The head of Sweden's gambling regulator has her contract extended, the Washington lottery commission gets a new boss, Macau casinos shuffle executives and Novibet appoints a manager for Brazil.

The Swedish government has decided to extend Camilla Rosenberg's appointment as director general and head of the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) until October 31, 2026. Rosenberg was first appointed to the role in October 2017 and oversaw the country’s re-regulation of the gambling market in 2019.

Flutter has named John Bryant as non-executive director and chair designate. His appointment has already taken effect and he will assume the role of chair from September 1, 2023. The appointment is part of the company's board succession plan, with outgoing chair Gary McGann stepping down upon reaching his nine-year tenure as a non-executive director.

888 has appointed Ben Hurst as the vice president of North American market expansion. Hurst has worked as an independent consultant for 888 over the past year and previously served as senior vice president and head of digital at Madison Square Garden Sports & Entertainment.

Kindred has announced that Johan Wilsby will leave his position as chief financial officer in Autumn 2023. The process to find Wilsby’s successor has already started.

Dutch trade association VAN Kansspelen has named Daan Keij as its new director as of May 1, 2023. Keij has experience working at other trade groups such as the Dutch Association of Estate Agents and Appraisers, BOVAG and the Dutch Brewers Association.

Microgaming announced that Stephen Fisk took over the role of chief executive from Andrew Clucas with immediate effect on May 2. Fisk has worked at the company for more than six and a half years, where he most recently held the position of chief operations officer.

Isle of Man-based Playtech has announced the appointment of Ruby Yam as an independent non-executive director. Yam started her new role on June 1, 2023.

Additionally, John Krumins has told the Playtech board that he intends to step down from his role on the board. At the request of the company’s chair, Krumins agreed to remain in his role as a non-executive director of the company and chairman of the Audit Committee until after the group publishes its interim results in September 2023.

The European Gaming and Amusement Federation (EUROMAT) has re-elected Jason Frost as its president, following its annual general meeting in Croatia last month. Uwe Christiansen was also re-elected as vice president and Sanne Muijser as treasurer.

Gonzalo De Osma Bucero has been named the new chief financial officer of gambling software firm EveryMatrix. He joins following a 16-year career with Codere.

Patrick Jonker has been appointed as the new chief executive of online casino business Blixx Gaming. The company is part of the HappyHour portfolio, a Malta-based investment group focusing on gambling start-ups.

Democratic Washington governor Jay Inslee has named Eric Pettigrew to serve as director of the Washington State Lottery Commission. He replaces Josh Johnston, who temporarily served as acting director after Marcus Glasper stepped down to become director of the Department of Licensing. Pettigrew is currently vice president of government relations and outreach with the National Hockey League’s Seattle Kraken.

Bally’s Corporation has appointed Marcus Glover to the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer, replacing current CFO Bobby Lavan, who has left the company to pursue another opportunity. He previously served as chief strategy officer for QPSI, a supply chain and contract packaging company.

Bally’s has also hired H.C. Charles Diao as senior vice president, finance and corporate treasurer, reporting to Glover. Jaymin Patel was also appointed as vice chairman of the board of directors.

Fanatics has appointed Deborah Crawford, formerly of Meta and Netflix, to the position of senior vice president and head of investor relations. In her new role, Crawford will oversee the business’s investor engagement. She will report to CFO Glenn Schiffman.

Gaming Laboratories International has promoted four employees within the organization. Mackenzie Haugh is the new chief delivery officer; James Boyle managing director of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); Devon Dalbock, chief operating officer of EMEA; and Martin Britton, chairman of EMEA.

The Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association (FSGA) has elected Brandon Loeschner as the new chairman of the board of directors. Loeschner, a partner at RubinBrown, previously served as treasurer and succeeds Stacie Stern, vice president of government affairs and partnerships at Underdog Fantasy. Stern served as chair for the past three years.

Matthew Holt, president of U.S. Integrity, will continue as vice chair of the FSGA board, while David Pfau, sales director at Sportradar US, was elected treasurer to succeed Loeschner. Howard Kamen, vice president of sports betting and iGaming at Advance Local, was re-elected as secretary.

Casino operator Wynn Macau has announced the replacement of non-executive director and former president Ian Coughlan by Wynn Resorts CFO Julie Cameron-Doe, effective May 26, according to a May 25 filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Wynn Macau rival MGM China reported that executive director Chen Yau Wong resigned his position at the conclusion of the company’s AGM on May 25, and was replaced by Jeny Lau. Like Wong, the 64-year-old Lau holds a prominent role in Hong Kong’s Grand Paradise Group, serving as COO and director. She previously worked in private equity and construction, and has a link to MGM China co-chair Pansy Ho through her former corporate finance role at Shun Tak Holdings.

Aquis Entertainment, operator of Casino Canberra, announced the resignation of Russell Shields as chairman and from the board, to be replaced by controlling shareholder and former chairman Tony Fung. The date of the power transfer was not provided in the May 17 filing to the Australian Securities Exchange. Shields had been on the board since 2015 and chairman since late 2021. Aquis also announced the resignation of company secretary Anna Sandham and her replacement by Garry Gill.

Gaming equipment supplier Sega Sammy Creation has promoted Tomohiro Saito to vice president of global operations and appointed Takashi Maekawa as senior vice president for global sales and business development, according to posts on the company’s LinkedIn page in early May. Saito is a decades-long employee of the Sega Group.

Major Indian fantasy sports platform Dream11 has appointed former WhatsApp design executive Priyanka Kodikal as chief design officer, according to Indian media reports on May 15. Kodikal also worked for WhatsApp parent Meta in the United States.

Indian online gaming listco heavyweight Deltatech Gaming, formerly known as Gaussian Networks, has appointed Joydeep Mukherjee as chief marketing officer, according to a May 22 statement. Mukherjee moves from a marketing role at an online education start-up after stints at Airtel and Airtel DTH.

Novibet has announced that Angelo Alberoni will be the brand’s manager in Brazil. His most recent positions in the industry were as the Brazilian country manager for Betsson and, before that, for Betcris.

Kambi has announced that Camilo Millón will be its new sales director for the Latin American market. Millón spent the past six years as the head of sales at Kiron Interactive for its Spain and Latin America territories.

Claudia Álvarez Troncoso has replaced Teófilo “Quico” Tabar Manzur as the head of the Dominican Republic’s regulatory body, the Directorate of Casinos and Games of Chance. She is a managing partner at corporate governance firm EthicsMente GEC, which also specialises in anti-corruption.
