Bill No. 1468, which includes designated casinos as covered persons under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA), was approved on its second reading with amendments on May 24, 2017. The inclusion of casinos is one of the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to avoid the potential blacklisting of the Philippines.
Senator Chiz Escudero announced on May 25, 2017 that the Senate should pass the amendments to the AMLA before the deadline given by the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) in September 2016.
