Isle of Man: Data Protection Act 2018 Comes into Force

On May 15, 2018, the Data Protection Act 2018 of the Isle of Man entered into force under the order of the Council of Ministers. The act aims to enhance the protection of personal data and to regulate personal data control and processing.

Under the act, the Council of Ministers may apply any EU instrument concerning data protection to the law of the island. It may also take steps to ensure the implementation of any EU obligation that the island has concerning personal data protection.
