Gambling in Vietnam has been traditionally prohibited with limited exceptions, mostly state-run lotteries. In 2017, for the first time, a decree allowed Vietnamese gamblers to gain access to casinos for a three-year trial period. A casino located in Phu Quoc is expected to open its doors in Spring 2018.
