Austria: Ministry of Finance Consults on Draft Law Transposing Provisions of 5th AMLD
On April 12, 2019, the Federal Ministry of Finance (Bundesministerim Finanzen - BMF) introduced a draft law titled “Federal Law amending the Financial Markets Money Laundering Act, the Beneficial Ownership Register Act, the Account Register and Account Entry Act and the Gambling Act (Financial Market – Money Laundering Act)”, seeking feedback on the changes it proposes to introduce.
The draft law transposing into the national legal order the provisions of the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5th AMLD) serves two purposes:

On December 30, 2016, the Austrian parliament passed the federal Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in the Financial Market (Finanzmarkt-Geldwäschegesetz - FM-GwG), and it has been published in the country's official gazette BGBl. I Nr. 118/2016.
Austria: Consultation on Data Protection Amendment Act 2018
The Austrian parliament has published a six-week public consultation on the federal act amending the federal constitutional law, adopting the Data Protection Act and repealing the Data Protection Act 2000 (Data Protection Act 2018).
This act implements the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which aims to protect natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data across the European Union.
