On July 3, 2019, the Council of Ministers introduced before parliament a bill including amendments and additions to the Law on Measures against Money Laundering. This law was adopted in March 2018 to implement the provisions of the 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (4th AMLD).
The bill was introduced to parliament as the existing legislation does not meet all of the requirements of European legislation, and at the same time implements the 5th AMLD, which must be transposed into national law by January 10, 2020.
Bulgarian state income from gambling grew by 10.8 percent in 2017, preceding another year of strong growth in the country’s nascent online market, which is estimated to have cleared €100m in gross gaming revenue during 2018.
