Bulgaria: Implementation of the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive
On July 3, 2019, the Council of Ministers introduced before parliament a bill including amendments and additions to the Law on Measures against Money Laundering. This law was adopted in March 2018 to implement the provisions of the 4th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (4th AMLD).
The bill was introduced to parliament as the existing legislation does not meet all of the requirements of European legislation, and at the same time implements the 5th AMLD, which must be transposed into national law by January 10, 2020.
