Lotteries are being “held to a different standard” by national regulators and politicians, and their failings punished more harshly, as they try to compete on social media and marketing channels with their commercial rivals, according to lottery bosses.

The Prime Minister of Mauritius has officially launched the country’s first national lottery game – but warned that legislation is being prepared to cut down on other forms of gambling on the island.
