As we approach the sixth annual VIXIO GamblingCompliance Global Regulator Awards (GRAs), on November 30, 2022, we sat down with Paul Burns the winner of this year's Compliance Lifetime Special Achievement Award.
Paul Burns was instrumental in establishing the Candian Gaming Association (CGA) in 2005, he was appointed president and CEO in 2018. Most recently, he led the CGA’s advocacy efforts in support of the repeal of Canada’s federal prohibition on single-event sports wagering, which was achieved when legislation was approved in parliament in 2021, as well as the landmark opening of Ontario’s internet gaming market, which was launched this year.
In this very special episode, VIXIO GamblingCompliance's Chief Analyst and VP Americas James Kilsby interviewed Paul ahead of the GRAs, discussing his career in the Canadian Gaming Association, the impact of Ontario’s recent regulatory changes and his perspective on what the future holds for Canada’s gaming market.
Presentation of the 2022 Global Regulatory Award winners will take place at a black-tie ceremony, returning in person to the prestigious De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London, on November 30, 2021. Tickets can be booked here.
